Wedding Mission Statement - How to create a wedding that is exactly what you want!
It's so easy to get lost in the little details of the wedding day that you loose site of what a wedding is all about and what is important to you and your fiancé, especially when you have the pressure from family, friends, Pinterest, etc.
A came across an article not to long ago that really resinated with me and it simply asked, what is the point of this wedding? To some it may be obvious...to get married duh! But after reading the article and thinking about it more and more I knew that I had to come up with a wedding mission statement. Since creating it I have found that it's pretty empowering. It has made me more excited to create a wedding that is exactly what we want and not what society or friends and family say we should do.
Our wedding will be a time to celebrate and acknowledge the love, not only between us but with God, for all our family and friends to witness and enjoy.
It also helps prioritize the things that are most important to you guys. For us a Catholic ceremony was high on the list because we wanted to build that foundation in our marriage with God. Next was our family and friends. We are both close with our family and friends and it is important to us that they are able to relax and have fun. As long as those two things happen I know it is going to be a beautiful day, no matter what dress I have, what the color are, or what types of flowers are displayed.
Some of my awesome friends and past clients got married almost a year ago and the bride, Maggie, just wrote an amazing blog post about her experience in wedding planning. She talks about the struggles of planning on a budget and how she made her dream wedding come true :) I hope you all check it out and give it a read, she shares so many things and hit home for me.
So I'm leaving you with some homework ;) Sit down with your fiancé and write out your wedding mission statement and list out your priorities. Do you want the perfect venue and photographer or do you care about the flowers and reception? Your's might be completely different than ours and that is completely okay! That's what makes each wedding special and unique :)
I'd love to hear your wedding mission statements! Be sure to leave yours in the comments :)
