Forget the Wedding Rules & Traditions
Forget the Wedding Rules & Traditions

After many, many, many years of weddings, there has been lots of traditions and rules that have developed. Sometimes we don't even know why they exist and we just do them. But I'm here to tell you it is okay to throw away the Wedding Rules & Traditions!

I believe your wedding should be a reflection of you and your fiance. If you guys love games then maybe you'll have a game area at your reception. If you don't like cake, but love brownies then have a brownie bar for a dessert. I am all about making your wedding fit your style and ditching the typical wedding rules & traditions :)

Sometimes with paving your own way for your wedding can lead to some resistance from friends and family members. I have two tips for that area. First, kindly tell them why you aren't doing some of the typically wedding traditions and say that you are really wanting your wedding to be a reflection of you guys. Second, if that doesn't work then I suggest you pick your battles. Meaning if you could care less about having a cake, but grandma says you have to have cake then let's compromise on a small cake. Since you really didn't care then it makes no difference to you and you still get to keep grandma happy. I can get very tough when family members are contributing financially, but many times when you explain why you are doing it that way then they totally understand.

So here is to my couples out there that are struggling with some of the typically wedding rules & traditions. Don't sweat it and make your wedding about YOU and how YOU want to celebrate your marriage :)

Do you have any tips on how to break away from the wedding rules & traditions? I'd love to hear them in the comments below!
